The most common result was 2–1, posted 98 times — 7.8% of the season's games. The season also produced 16 tie games, which sit on the board's diagonal.
Teams combined for 6.77 runs per game in 1908, 2.02 runs below the 1901-onward average of 8.79. That is the lowest scoring rate among the 125 seasons since 1901. Shutouts accounted for 296 games (23.7% of the total), and 399 of the 1,233 decided games were settled by a single run (32.4%).
