The 1911 season produced 1,243 games between 16 clubs, running from April 12, 1911 to October 26, 1911. Those games ended in 129 different final scores, 37 of which occurred exactly once all season. The most common result was 3–2, posted 68 times — 5.5% of the season's games. The season also produced 19 tie games, which sit on the board's diagonal.
Teams combined for 9.01 runs per game in 1911, almost exactly the 1901-onward average of 8.79. Shutouts accounted for 170 games (13.7% of the total), and 376 of the 1,224 decided games were settled by a single run (30.7%).
The highest-scoring game of the season came on June 18, 1911, when the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 16–15 — 31 combined runs. The widest margin was 23 runs: the Cincinnati Reds over the Boston Braves 26–3 on June 4, 1911.
No final score appeared for the first time in major league history during 1911. Every score posted this season had already happened at least once in an earlier year.
