The 2011 season produced 2,467 games between 30 clubs, running from March 31, 2011 to October 28, 2011. Those games ended in 118 different final scores, 25 of which occurred exactly once all season. The most common result was 3–2, posted 148 times — 6.0% of the season's games.
Teams combined for 8.58 runs per game in 2011, almost exactly the 1901-onward average of 8.79. Shutouts accounted for 326 games (13.2% of the total), and 765 of the 2,467 decided games were settled by a single run (31.0%).
