The 2023 season produced 2,471 games between 30 clubs, running from March 30, 2023 to November 1, 2023. Those games ended in 128 different final scores, 27 of which occurred exactly once all season. The most common result was 3–2, posted 132 times — 5.3% of the season's games.
Teams combined for 9.21 runs per game in 2023, 0.42 runs above the 1901-onward average of 8.79. Shutouts accounted for 315 games (12.7% of the total), and 683 of the 2,471 decided games were settled by a single run (27.6%).
The highest-scoring game of the season came on July 18, 2023, when the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Atlanta Braves 16–13 — 29 combined runs. The widest margin was 24 runs: the Los Angeles Angels over the Colorado Rockies 25–1 on June 24, 2023.
